Weather

Whether the weather be hot,
Or whether the weather be not,
We’ll weather the weather,
Whatever the weather,
Whether we’ll like it or not.

On Saturday a couple friends and I traveled to a nearby town for some shopping. I live in a very rural area, and we were in need some good old fashioned girl time. One might think I have all the girl time I can use, since I have two girls. But this was BIG girl time. Not that any of us are BIG, I’m not saying that. I mean, adult girl time.

Since it is February, I watched the weather like a freak in a snowstorm. I don’t like to drive on the nasty roads at all. So with glee I saw the forecast was for sun and in the 40s! Yay!!!

My friend: Have you heard the news?
Me: News?
Her: It’s snowing in {town}, they have an inch on the ground. And it’s still coming down.
Me: Oh. And inside I thought, Man! I’m glad she’s driving.

We talked about the possibility of needing to turn around and plan our trip for another day should the roads get too bad. Between here and there, we pass through one town, and it’s not big at all. A little bigger than a blink, but not much.  So there is a lot of wide open spaces.

We made it fine. Obviously.  Do you ever ….

Hoo boy. I got up to visit the “necessary room”, got distracted on my way back with work….and now I have no idea where I was going with that.  So until I remember, I’ll move on.

I’ve been pondering a few things lately. Deeply pondering. I’m talking things that will change the world. For the better. Eradicate all our problems.

Yes, that big. I’m solving the world’s ills.

We have huge advancements in everything, healthcare (not going there today…) and technology. We are smarter than we’ve ever been before. We’re doing more than we’ve ever done before. We’re going places people a few generations back didn’t even think was possible.

We’ve been on the moon, for pete’s sake!  We have smart phones. All of this wonderful, wonderful inventions.

And yet, we can’t seem to design a toilet paper for public restrooms that actually tears. Before you unroll the whole thing.  I do see the little  sharp teeth, that I would think are supposed to cut or tear it. But it never works.  I don’t get it.

Just think how happier everyone would be if the toilet paper just tore. We would have more parades. We would give gifts. We wouldn’t care if we have to stand in line for 90 hours, because “the toilet paper just tore!”.

The person who designs this will be applauded.  Monuments will be erected in their honor.  Their birthday will be a national holiday. Terrorists will lay down their arms and promise to never pick them up again. And kill anyone who did.

I’m saying it would be a good thing!

And alas, not only can I still not remember where I was going initially, I can’t remember the other thing I was pondering. As you can clearly see, I put a lot of thought into that pondering.
