Poems

Filling up these pages,
With thoughts of yesterday,
Tomorrow and today.
Thoughts of truth unbidden,
Fill my mind, flooding,
Coming in waves.
Never knowing when or what
Instability and undependability rule the heart.
Looking for firm footing,
A place to rest, safe and secure
From life’s tempest blast.
That boulder looks foreboding and enticing,
Mostly all at once
But I’ll take that tree;
Sit in the shade, lean against the trunk and
Drink in the surroundings,
Soft and green, inviting a heart’s repose;
For a few stolen moments
A place to nap away from cares.

Joy In the Pain

What I want for you is

Not that you would never know pain.

But that you would know Joy

In the pain-filled places.

That you would realize the sweetness of surrender.

The Peace of giving in,

Giving Up Your life, your way,

For His Life, His Way.

Because surrender brings

Joy in the stuck places

Of hard pain.

What I want for you is

That you would know

Pain only crushes and kills

If it is not embraced,

Surrendered and

Freely given to Him.

Rejoice

Rejoice with exceedingly great joy!

Emmanuel shall come.

And these afflictions will be seen

for what they are;

light and momentary.

Blessings to make us fit

For our new home.

Rejoice with exceedingly great joy!

For to you is born

A Boy.

He shall rule His people

From their heart.

With His Holy Spirit

Sealed up tight-

He will never depart.

Rejoice with exceedingly great joy!

Emmanuel shall come to thee.

To thee–He shall come,

Guide, Shepherd, Ruler,

Teacher, Friend,

Holy One

He shall come to thee.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

He has come to thee!

Fall down before Him,

Lift your face to Him,

His Light, His Life

Shines on you.

Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

In your afflictions,

Emmanuel-God with us-

Has come to thee.

Rejoice!

Bring Me In

Oh bring me in–

Bring me in

To the Promised Land

You’ve taken all my

Sin.

Oh bring me in–

Bring me in

To the Promised Land

Where all I have

Comes from Your hand

Oh Bring me in–

Bring me in

To the Promised Land

The Land that flows

With all the goodness

You can bestow.

Oh bring me in–

Bring me in

To my Promised Land

–Land full of feasting

On Your goodness

Without ceasing

Oh bring me in–

Bring me in

To my Promised Land

Free and

Full of Blessings from

Your hand.

Take Me Back

Take me back to be a stranger,

Take me back to before I knew of friendship’s bliss.

Oh take me,

Take me back to be a stranger.

Take me back to before I knew of friendship’s kiss.

Oh take me,

Take me back to be a stranger,

When life was colored in a different hue.

Oh take me back,

Take me back to be a stranger,

Before it all became brand new

Oh take me back,

Take me back to be a stranger

Before I knew what friendship was.

Oh take me,

Take me back to be a stranger.

Yes, take me back to be a stranger,

Let me learn once more of you

So life can once again be made new

And I won’t have to say,

Oh take me back to be a stranger

Top Of the Mountain

Lord, call me to come up to the

Top of the mountain with You–

Into the midst of the fire and smoke.

Where the trumpets blare

And You are there.

Oh Lord, call me up to the

Top of the mountain

When I can see that

Nothing can contain

You. Yet You maintain

There on the top of the mountain.

Oh Lord, call me up to the

Top of the mountain.

Where the air is filled with You,

And I see you clothed in

A rainbow’s hue.

Oh Lord, call me up to the

Top of the mountain

Where You answer in the

thunder.

Trumpet blasts are louder;

The fire and smoke billow higher,

Where You meet with me;

Talk with me–

Oh Lord, call me up to the

Top of the Mountain

With You.
